I never did my trip report. Things just got kinda crazy after I got back.

BUT...

I will start working on posting things from October very soon. It was an AMAZING trip and I hope Michelle and I will get to go again this year. (I've already started saving up, just in case.)

Anyway, I have videos and photos (of almost everything) to share with anyone who might still be reading this blog.

So, I leave for my Disney World trip tomorrow! It's really only a long weekend, but it will totally be worth it! I plan on doing a full trip report when I get back! I'm going to go to Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party on Friday and then the 40th Anniversary at Magic Kingdom on Saturday.

So I'll have lots to report.

Expect pictures and videos and a summary of our days in the parks.

Planning Tips for Disney World

I leave for my Disney trip and reunion with my CP roommate in about 6 days, and since my trip is so close I wanted to talk to you guys about planning a Disney trip. It's really not as complicated as it seems. I'll walk you through what we did step by step.

1: Decide to go. (Pretty obvious, haha)
2: Decide when to go:

This step for us meant figuring out what we wanted to do. We decided we wanted to plan our trip around Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party. Then I looked at the special offers on the Walt Disney World website, and got together a few price quotes. The Disney World website makes getting prices very easy. We decided to go to a party in September in the hopes that those parties would be less crowded, and because there was a "$69 dollars a night until the end of September" deal going on at the time. After looking at the Disney World events Calendar, Michelle mentioned wanting to go to the Food and Wine Festival as well (which starts on September 30th) and so that put our trip at the very end of September.

And that's basically what you want to do to decide when to go. Look at the events going on in the area and see if there are any you're just dying to go to, and then check out any promotional offers the resort has going. Usually they have a few going on in early fall because it's their slow season. You also want to decide if you want to go during peak season or off season. There are advantages to both. I prefer off season because it gives you more time in your schedule due to shorter lines.

3: Decide on your budget:

Quote prices for all your options. I like to get a quote for my dream vacation (the most ideal trip you would want to take), a quote for a more reasonable vacation, and then a quote for an economy vacation (cheap). Once we had quotes for each it was easier to figure out what we could afford. Michelle and I went for economy this time around. Which basically means: short stay at a value resort with no meal plan or water park tickets.

When you prepare your quotes make sure you plan for travel expenses and food while you're there. Forgetting those could throw your budget way off. Do a little research on which airlines would be the most sensible for you or make sure to check on current gas prices and calculate how much gas money you'd need.

A food budget is a little easier. This is when you decide if you want to make any reservations, and if so where, and then factor in the prices that Disney will have listed on the restaurants summary page. We decided on reservations at two places and I found the estimated per person price on Disney's website. I usually try to plan for ten dollars above the price they give, just in case. If you don't plan on any reservations and just want to eat cheap then please remember you're going to Disney. Disney is not "cheap" in the normal sense. Plan at least $10 dollars for every meal, just in case. If you come in under budget then that's great! You'll have more money to spend on souvenirs, but you want to be positive that you have your meals covered.

(Personal tip from me: Get a kids meal. They come with plenty of food, and are half the price. Plus, you don't want to eat anything too heavy while you're out playing in the parks in the hot sun. A light satisfying lunch is the way to go, and kids meals are the perfect solution for that. They usually include a main entree, a side (usually fruit), a drink, and a dessert. Trust me, it's plenty.)

4: Decide how you want to book your vacation:

You can book a couple of different ways. You can use a travel agent, you can book a vacation package with the resort itself, or you can still book through Disney but buy your tickets and book your room separately. There are advantages to each of these.

A travel agent will know all the special promotions and may have access to discounts that you can't get any other way. Plus, they can often help you stay within your budget.

A vacation package is perfect for families. It will include special perks (a t-shirt voucher at Planet Hollywood, discounts for mini golf, etc.) and allow you to keep all your reservations together (which means less paperwork to keep up with). Often times for vacation packages Disney will link your park tickets with your room key which will make your ticket easier to keep up with as well. Packages can also include Meal Plans which will (if you learn how to work it right) help to make your meals more affordable.

For college students or people on a shoe string budget I recommend buying your tickets and booking your room separately. There are two reasons for this: 1) The extra perks that come with the package cost extra. (Yes you do technically pay for those perks). 2) This makes it easier to plan. (One person doesn't have to pay the bill and then count on other people paying them back.) You can each buy your own tickets and make your own travel plans this way. (Be careful with Magical Express though. Your group will have to be arriving on the same flight for all of you to take advantage of this free resort service.)

5: Once you've made your final decisions...book it! (again pretty clear)
6: Don't forget to book a flight if you need one!

Don't wait too late! The sooner you book the more affordable it will be. Airlines give discounts to people who book in advance. The closer you're trip is the more expensive airfare will be.

7: As the trip gets closer make sure you have all your reservations confirmed and your travel documents in one place.

I suggest having a binder with all of your e-mail receipts and confirmation numbers in it. I have one ready to go for my trip. All of my necessary documents are inside it (including my Magical Express booklet and Photopass card that I was sent in advance). Pack it in your carry on and keep it with you. This will make it easier when you're picking up tickets from will call or checking in at your hotel.

8: HAVE FUN AND GET EXCITED!

Never be afraid to act like a kid. That's what the Disney Parks are all about! That's what Walt himself wanted for every guest! Be as silly as you want! Ride your favorite attractions over and over! Meet all your favorite characters! Never feel like you're "too old" or "too cool" for Disney. That attitude will take all the fun out of your trip! Let go and be a kid! That's truly the ONLY way to enjoy Disney World!

My Post College Life

Okay, so to get this "new" phase of my blog kicked off I think I should update you on what my life is like right now.

I graduated in May from Appalachian State University with a degree in Communication, Advertising. I've been looking for a "big girl job" as I call it since February. I haven't found one yet, but I'm still searching. In the meantime I got a part time job at Build-a-Bear!

I love working at Build-a-Bear. It's a lot like my merchandise role at Disney because I'm still creating something magical for all of our guests. Plus, we have Disney merchandise at Build-a-Bear. There are princess dresses for the bears! They're so cute!

I miss Disney like crazy though. My mother says I'm "possessed". (I moved back in with them by the way. I don't make enough to pay for an apartment at the moment.) I still talk to people from my program and I miss them dearly!

In about 29 days I'll be going on a Disney trip with my old CP roomie, Michelle! I've got that all planned and paid for, and I'll be going into detail about that in another post very soon! Also, I'm working on posting the last of my Disney footage. I'll be putting together a multi-episode vlog post probably tomorrow sometime! So be on the look out for that!

But that's my life at the moment: Working part time, looking for a full time job, hanging out, and dreaming of Disney.

Small Changes Make a World of Difference!

"Oh Gee, I wish I was back in the army..."

Well, my time with Disney is officially over. I'm a civilian.

My ex-roomie, Michelle, and I joke that working for the mouse is like working for the army. You have experiences that many people just don't get, you know secrets you're not allowed to share, and once your time is done the only people who really understand what it's like are your former co-workers. All of College Program kids are veterans of Mickey's army. (Hence the video clip at the top of this entry.)

Now, I've got to get back to civilian life.

And it's harder than you think.

I haven't worked for Disney since January, but there has always been that hope that I would get a Professional Internship and be back down there full time. I didn't get that last internship. So, now I know for sure that I will not be returning to Disney. But that's okay. Life goes on and I'll survive. It might actually be better to return purely as a guest next time I visit the Wide World of the Mouse.

In the meantime, I'm spending most of my time searching for a job. Any job, anywhere, doing anything. I mean, yes, I would love to put my degree to use, but I if I can't I will accept something else. I will work retail if I have to. I just need money coming in from somewhere. Eventually, I want something I can be truly passionate about, but for just starting out...I really just need good hours and good money. I have credit card bills to pay, a car payment I need to take over for my parents, student loans I need to start saving to take care of, and a Disney World trip to pay for and plan. Also, I would really like to be able to afford my own place.

None of this can happen, though, if I don't have a job. And, let me tell you, getting a job is harder than it sounds. I have a portfolio, I have a resume. I think both are very good, but so far they haven't gotten me much. I'm stressed out about it. I mean, to the point that I want to cry every time someone asks me, "So, how's the job search going?"

Not well, people. It's not going well. And I feel like, because of this, people don't think I'm trying. They think I'm only applying for things in my field. I'm not. I'm applying for everything. Only no one seems to feel like hiring me.

Anyone who is currently in college, don't be fooled by flowery words about how a degree will change your life. It's good to have, but it doesn't mean you'll automatically be offered a job. Yes, employer's want degrees, but they also want several years of experience to go along with it. Something a fresh college graduate can't get if no one is will to give said "fresh college graduate" a chance. So, don't do what I did in college. I waited until my second to last year to start looking for internships. Start looking right away. There are a ton out there. They don't even have to be the DCP. Just find as many as you can and apply. The more hands on experience you have the better. Trust me on this one, folks.

Alright, that's all for today. I have errands to run today, but let me tell you that over the next few weeks there will be some changes to the blog. I still have footage from the program to post, but this blog will no longer be strictly about the program. I want to offer up an insider's knowledge on Disney to anyone planning to apply for the college program or take a Disney World trip. If you have questions, ask them. I will be happy to help in any way that I can.

I will try to pay more attention to my formspring. I may just start a new one all together as my old one tends to be spammed by other users and spambots. I know I currently have a few older questions on my formspring that I missed. I apologize to those of you who asked me something forever ago. You deserved an answer before now, and you will get one soon (even if you've already gotten the answer from someone else.)

Anyways, so if you notice this blog start to look and sound different just know that I am still willing to talk to anyone about the program. It was the greatest adventure of my life, thus far, and I am more than happy to pass on any knowledge or advice that I may have.

A Tribute to Star Tours (the Original)

So, Today, as I'm sure some of you know, is Star Wars Day. And while I was preparing my Top 5 list on my favorite Hollywood Studios attractions I noticed I had "Tribute to Star Tours" typed out in my notes. And then I thought, "What better way to celebrate Star Wars Day then by dedicating a whole post to the original Star Tours attraction?"

So, let me take a moment to say: "May the fourth be with you! Happy Star Wars Day!" And I hope that this post will help you get in the Star Wars Day spirit!

Star Tours was and will forever be one of my favorite Hollywood Studios attractions. Sadly, I knew I wouldn't be able to include it in my Top 5 list because the version I know so well is no more, and the new one hasn't opened yet (nor have I ridden it.) So, my original plan was to dedicate a snippet to Star Tours in the "Honorable Mentions" section of my Top 5 post. But now it's going to get it's own article.

I don't care that some people called it "dated" or that they felt the ride was too bumpy. Star Tours was the perfect Star Wars attraction. It truly felt as if you had stepped into the original trilogy. There was no trace of the prequels in sight (another reason I loved this attraction.) The pre-ride videos were absolutely hysterical. So many Star Wars reference in such a short video always amazed me.

One thing I dearly hope doesn't change too much is the Queue line. I love The Star Tours Queue line just like it is. The ships, the droids, the decor. I love it all. I will be sorely disappointed if all of that has changed whenever I finally get a chance to ride Star Tours 2.

While I was on my program the original Star Tours was still open for a good portion of it. I made a habit out of riding Star Tours at least twice every time I visited Hollywood Studios. I knew it would be going away soon and I wanted to make sure I would remember the original no matter what. Unlike most I have been skeptical about Star Tours 2 from the beginning, but as I was working for Disney World when the original was shut down I am, actually, very anxious to ride the new one.

I've heard many things about it, and while I will miss the original dearly I still believe the re-imagined Star Tours will be loads of fun. But I hope no one will ever forget the truly awesome original Star Tours and it's amazing themeing. My first trip to Disney World only consisted of two of the four parks: Epcot and Hollywood Studios (then MGM). Star Tours was one of the very first things I rode, and I remember being blown away by the environment. I was absolutely thrilled. I felt as if I stepped into the universe of one of my all time favorite film franchises, and that will forever be one of my favorite Disney memories. I hope Star Tours 2 keeps that same spirit, and that it will be a part of a new generations favorite Disney memories as well.

Top 5 Animal Kingdom Attractions

5. Finding Nemo: The Musical

I have a nephew who adores Finding Nemo. I love it too, of course, but not as much as he does. So, when I went down to Disney for my program I knew I had to see Finding Nemo the Musical. It was one of the things on my Disney bucket list, and I was NOT disappointed. This was a very good show. One of the Disney World show's with the best production quality. This show, honestly, could be lengthened and translate to Broadway very easily. The music was wonderful, and the audience interaction made the show that much more enjoyable. My favorite moment from the entire show was the number "Swim Together" (that's the number in the picture above.) It was absolutely adorable.

4. Expedition Everest

I got to go to Disney World the first summer Expedition Everest opened back in 2006. That was my first ever trip to the Animal Kingdom and only my second trip to Walt Disney World as a whole. So, I do sort of have this strange emotional connection to Expedition Everest. I remember at the time being very excited to see this new Disney attraction. I had been following it's progress online through various means, and couldn't wait to actually ride it. This is a very thrilling ride. There are twists and turns that you don't expect, and close encounter with the legendary yeti. Another plus for this ride is the quality of it's theme. Unless you're line is insanely short and you can walk right on don't ignore the Yeti Museum as you walk through the line. It really adds to the experience of the ride.

3. The Festival of the Lion King

This is an AMAZING show. One of the best on Disney property. There's acrobatics, singing, dancing, audience interactions, characters, and lots of audience interactions. Plus it's in the round so there's really not a bad seat in the entire venue. Most impressive part for me though? The Tumble Monkeys (as pictured above). They're hilarious and their display is extremely impressive. The vocalists in this show are the best in any show across Disney World. They sing the songs you know and love even better than they were sung in the movie. It's just an excellent show that you'll have to see to really enjoy.

2. Dinosaur

Okay, I'll confess I'd forgotten how thrilling this attraction was. Again, I rode this for the first time in 2006 and didn't ride it again until 2010. In four years my recall of this ride had deteriorated. I remembered there wasn't a drop like Jurassic Park at Universal Studios. I remembered it sent you back in time, and I remembered you were sent back just minutes before all the dinosaurs were destroyed. But I had forgotten how many close encounters you have with carnivores. When I finally got the chance to ride it again I found myself absolutely terrified, but terrified in the best way possible. Dinosaur is a thrill ride and a half. Definitely one of the best attractions at the Animal Kingdom.

1. Kilimanjaro Safaris

By far the absolute best attraction at the Animal Kingdom. This attraction takes up the majority of the land that the Animal Kingdom calls home. Essentially this is the real life version of the Jungle Cruise. Although, you're not in a boat. You're in a safari truck. Your guide takes you around in this truck and you see the various animals they have at the Animal Kingdom. It truly is amazing to see these animals. Not only do you get to see them, but you just might get to help your guide take out some poachers. This is a very fun attraction that your entire family will enjoy. Make sure you don't go too late or too early in the day. The most animals are out about in the middle of the day.

Honorable Mention: It's Tough to Be a Bug

It's Tough to be a Bug is the 3D (well, technically 4D I suppose) film that's shown inside the Tree of Life. You watch a show presented by Flick and the rest of the gang from A Bug's Life. It's adorable. But beware of stink bugs and spiders. (The spiders were my least favorite part). There are elements that may scare little ones so be careful when taking toddlers or preschoolers.

5. Arribas Brothers

The Arribas Brothers actually have a store on Main Street at the Magic Kingdom. It's just not called the Arribas Brothers. The store features amazing glass sculptures and pieces of jewelry. As well as some items with amazing crystal work. Majority of the items in this store and it's sister store in the Magic Kingdom are very expensive. You'll find collectible porcelain plates here as well (I got one with Aurora and Prince Phillip on it as a birthday gift from my amazing room mate). This is a wonderful place to browse. I always made a point to wander through Arribas Brothers whenever I went to Downtown Disney if only so I could mark a few things down on my ultimate wish list in my head.

4. Art of Disney

There are Art of Disney stores at the Magic Kingdom and at Epcot. There is also a smaller store in Hollywood Studios that sells the same merchandise but I'm not sure if it's technically considered an Art of Disney store. But, for me, I think the one at Downtown Disney is the best. They're the largest one on Disney property and the variety of art that they have is just amazing. If I had the money I would have bought so many awesome pieces of art from them. They also have wonderful little trinkets that collectors will enjoy. They have figurines and trinket boxes. I was given a trinket box with Maleficent on it from another one of my wonderful room mates. She bought it at Art of Disney. Art of Disney also has a computer system where you can look through their archives and order a print. You can order it at whatever size you want, and you can even order to have it framed. I spent hours browsing through their collection of prints just to see if there was anything I would have to spend my money on.

Again this store is a bit more pricey. They do have character sketches by artists that are very affordable in the store, but most of the artwork is rather expensive. But, still, it is fun to browse. Also you'll find Vinylmation in a lot of Art of Disney locations, and in most you'll find the mystery trading boxes as well. So if you're a Vinylmation collector Art of Disney is definitely the store for you.

3. AMC 24

What can I say about this theater? It is quite possibly the best place to see a movie ever. Now that I'm at home I miss AMC theaters but specifically THIS AMC theater. Their concessions stands can not be rivaled by anyone. They have chicken tenders (we're talking restaurant quality), ice cream, hot dogs (with actual "fixins" as we call them in my house), and the most amazing series of Coke Freestyle machines you will ever see. What's a Coke Freestyle Machine?

THAT is a Coke Freestyle machine, and it is the coolest thing ever. It feels like there is an unlimited amount of drink choices when you're at that fountain machine. You can even mix and match different flavors. Want a Coke with a hint of orange? You can get regular Coke and add a bit of Orange Fanta. Another amazing thing about this machine? When you choose Cherry Coke it's not your average Cherry Coke. It's Coke with actual Cherry syrup. You wouldn't think it would taste any different, but I'm here to tell you...it DOES. It's the most delicious Cherry Coke I've ever had.

But not only are their concessions amazing, but every auditorium is comfortable. The seats are probably the most spacious I've ever seen. Btw, if you're seeing a movie in Auditorium #1...it's HUGE. It has a balcony (always sit in the balcony. Preferably row #2...no heads or balcony railing to block your view.)

I saw so many movies at this theater. It was truly an enjoyable experience every time. The staff are wonderful (very friendly and helpful), and the theater itself is massive and very clean. A great place to go see a movie.

Clearly, I'm a movie geek. Can you tell?

2. World of Disney

The World of Disney Store is the largest Disney Store on all of Walt Disney World property. You can find anything and everything here. There's even a Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boutique inside the store. Beside of the boutique is the largest selection of costumes you will ever find on property (for little girls. Sorry grown up girls, no costumes for you.) There's a whole room dedicated to toddlers. There's a section for plush (largest pook-a-looz selection after Mouse Gear at Epcot.) There's a section for women's clothes, men's clothes, little girl's clothes, little boy's clothes, kitchen ware and home goods, junior clothing, affordable souvenir odds and ends, and a section for high end items (such as the Douney & Bourke purses produced specifically for the Disney Parks.) It's essentially a Disney Parks department store. If you're there with your family be sure to keep an eye on them because if you don't it will take you at least fifteen minutes to find them again. (Trust me, it's that huge.) Also look out for Stitch. He's perched above one of the entrances to World of Disney. I learned the hard way that he does occasionally spit (usually on hot days).

1. Tren-D

Tren-D quickly became my favorite store. I spent way too much of my paycheck at this place. As their name states they have extremely trendy Disney merchandise for women. Purses, jewelry, clothing, and even a few books. Some items are affordable, but most are expensive. This store is home to the "Disney Couture" line of clothing and jewelry. It also has a selection of the Douney & Bourke pocket books you can find at World of Disney. The clothing is absolutely the cutest. Last time I was there they had items centered around Snow White, Cinderella, Alice, and Minnie Mouse. But if you look hard enough you'll find items for Jasmine, Pocahontas, Aurora, Daisy Duck, and the Disney Villains as well. These clothing items are not your traditional touristy park merchandise. These are more fashionable items that you will probably wear more often.

I adore this store, and really wish Disney would make this a franchise. I could see these in malls around the country. They would do very well.

Honorable Mentions:

Little Miss Matched: This is an adorable store, and one of only three in the nation I believe. This store is largely focused toward little girls and their moms. They have items that come in similar but mismatched sets of three. From socks to leg warmers everything comes in a mismatched set of three. I have several pairs of socks from this store, and I love them to death.

Earl of Sandwich: This quickly became one of my favorite places to eat. They have a special sandwich around Thanksgiving that is the most delicious thing I have ever tasted (it's turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce, and gravy...on a sandwich.) Their year round selections are extremely yummy as well. Every sandwich is hot and delicious and yet somehow unique from any sandwich you've ever had before. Definitely give this place a try! You'll love it!

Update: May 1st is Finally Here!

So, today is May 1st.

The day that I was told I would hear back before, but to be honest I had a feeling it would be a bit longer to hear back from all of the internships I applied for.

When I applied, I applied for four PI's. I've heard back from three. Let's go through them shall we? Just to keep track of who I've heard from and what I heard.

Marketing Internship: I heard back from them before I even interviewed with a "Thank you for applying, but we've already narrowed down our candidates."

Marketing internship: The second marketing internship I applied for. I heard back from them before I even interviewed with an identical response to the other one: "Thank you for applying, but we've already narrowed down our candidates."

Creative, Inc Internship: I heard back from them on Good Friday with the very familliar response of: "Thank you for applying, but we've already narrowed down our candidates."

That leaves the Graphic Design internship which I still haven't heard back from. I'm going to assume that no news is good news. But it is a Sunday so we'll see what happens tomorrow. In the meantime, I've got several "Top 5" lists planned out to keep me busy. I also have more footage from my time on the program to edit together. Not to mention, I'm currently in the middle of exams and have graduation coming up in SIX days.

Top 5 Hollywood Studios Attractions

5. The Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular

Okay, I've decided there's really no point in me doing a long winded descriptions of each attraction, haha. But I will give you my opinions and maybe a few tips. This show is a lot of fun! The stunts are impressive and the show itself is very funny. Enjoyable for adults and kids a like. If you want to be a part of the show then make sure you come about twenty minutes before showtime. They just might pick you.

Also I suggest trying to sit in the middle section (to do this you probably need to be there about fifteen minutes before show time.) Don't worry once you sit down you can leave and go get a snack (as long as you have someone to save your seat). Coming fifteen minutes before showtime may sound like a drag, but it's a great time to rest. The theater is shaded and usually cooler than a few other places. So I suggest showing up early with a cold drink and a pretzel. Relax and enjoy some (much needed) time to slow down.

4. Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith

The Rockin' Roller Coaster is my dad's favorite ride in all of Disney World. He thinks it's the coolest ride in all of the Disney. I remember the first time we rode it. We were waiting in the queue and there was a "limo" waiting to be launched. Dad looked away for a split second and when he turned around it was gone. His eyes went wide and he grinned like he just knew he was going to enjoy this coaster. And he was right. Every time we go as a family this is the ride he wants to ride over and over again. I love it too, of course. I think the Aerosmith pre-show is a lot of fun. The ride itself is amazing though.

My advice: be sure to keep your eyes and ears open on this one. There are fun neon signs and Aerosmith music pumping to the beat of your zooming ride. Also, have a couple of bottles of water handy while you're waiting in line. The Florida heat can be brutal and this line can be long. If you're group's not opposed to riding separately you there is a single riders line. That line usually moves faster, and don't forget that there's always the option of Fastpass.

3. Hollywood Tower of Terror

The Tower of Terror...this ride opened when I was in about third grade and I remember the ads like it was yesterday. I thought if I ever went to Disney World then no force on Earth would ever get me to ride that thing. Turns out I was wrong. There was a force that could get me to ride it. I call her Aunt Donna. When I was fifteen and finally go to go to Disney World, she and my Uncle Wayne and my mom were the first people to ride Tower of Terror with me. It was a lot of fun, but I remember being terrified. The picture they took as we fell was of myself and my aunt Donna looking at each other and screaming bloody murder.

It's a can't miss attraction at Hollywood Studios for both the attraction itself and it's amazingly detailed themeing. Here's a tip: If you're a hidden Mickey seeker you'll find at least one as you enter the Hollywood Tower Hotel's lobby. Keep a sharp eye out. It's there.

This queue is not too bad. It's shaded by trees for the most part, but having water on hand is always a good idea in Florida. Also look for a graceful statue while your waiting in the outdoor section of the queue. Watch her and then tell me what you see. I believe I've seen her blink, but I could be wrong.

2. Toy Story Mania

Before the relaunch of Star Tours this was the newest addition to Hollywood Studios. It's a blast, and definitely something for the whole family. It's so interactive that you sometimes forget it's a ride at all. And unlike some "shoot 'em up" attractions, such as Space Ranger Spin or Men In Black Alien Attack, you can actually feel where to aim. The shooting mechanism feels as though you are actually launching something and gives you greater control. Definitely easier for little ones to use.

This line can be long so I suggest getting a fast pass for this one as soon as you enter the park. Fastpasses go quick. They're extremely worth it for this attraction as this line is almost always over thirty minutes. Another tip, for those guests without little ones, is to hit this ride as you're leaving the park. The sign may say 25 minutes, but more than likely it will be a shorter wait than that. And, as a guest at the parks, you're able to get in line for a ride until the very minute before the park closes. Once you're in line they have to let you ride.

1. Fantasmic

Fantasmic was my favorite nighttime show as a teen. I hadn't quite come to appreciate IllumiNations yet and I thought I was a bit old for Wishes, but Fantasmic was exciting and so much more than a display of lasers and fireworks. This was a show with a very real story and actors. Fantasmic is still one of the most exciting night time shows in the World.

This show is only performed about every other night now. Be sure to look up the show times schedule before you leave for your trip and plan ahead for this show. It's can't miss. Also if you plan on seeing the first of the two shows be sure to get in line at least half an hour early (preferably more). That's the most crowded show on any given Fantasmic night. I suggest going to the second show if you're sans young children. It's less crowded and a bit easier to get into. I also suggest getting a snacks to take with you just before you get in line. More than likely you'll be in line for a while. You can always get more snacks once you're seated (they have concessions inside the theater).

Also (a tip I learned the hard way), if you're seeing the show anytime from late November to January be sure to bring a blanket. Believe it or not, it can be down right cold in Florida. If you don't bring a blanket, a hat, or gloves you'll be buying them because you won't be able to stand sitting in the cold with out them. Trust me.

Honorable Mention:

Muppet Vision 3D

Muppet Vision receives an honorable mention because it is pure family fun. Every one will enjoy it. The pre-show is just as good as the actual show so definitely don't miss that. Also, this attraction usually has a short wait so it's great for people who need to kill time in between Fastpasses. Don't forget to visit the Muppet store as you leave. Be sure to look around and up, you'll see actual sets and props from Muppet Movies through out the store.

The Can't Miss Seasonal Attraction:

The Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights

While I was on my College Program I visited these lights often. There were an amazing sight to behold. There were every where. So, when my parents came to visit I just knew I had to take them to see them as well. They were the Christmas event that my dad was the most impressed with in all of Disney World (and we went to the Christmas Party). This is definitely something you have to do if you're visiting the resort around the holidays. It's included with the price of your Hollywood Studios ticket so there's no extra fee to view it. Buy your self a cookie and some hot cocoa and take a stroll through these dazzling lights. You won't forget it. It will truly make your holidays much much brighter.

The Return of the Top 5!

So I haven't done a Top 5 list in a really long time and I used to do them all the time on this blog. So I thought I would do a few that I did before I left. Because they have definitely changed since then. The first one I'm going to do is my top 5 Disney World attractions over all and maybe after then I'll break it down park by park.

5. Living with the Land Boat Ride

I know not many people have this one in their top 5, but I've always been odd. Why stop now? There's just something about this attraction that I love! I think it's the greenhouse with all the awesome and interesting vegetables and plants. And then to see the innovations in agriculture is just absolutely intriguing to me. Plus I love to see the different shapes they've planted the different colors of lettuce in. (Look for that next time if you never have before). Also really interesting to me was the little plastic cases they grew certain plants in (melons, pumpkins, etc.) that would help it form the shape of a Mickey head. Plus I LOVE those Tomato Trees and the nine pound lemons! They're amazing!

It also feels so very classic Disney too. There's the really amazing beginning of the attraction with all the simulations of different environments, and then the super dramatic ending is always fun! Haha. Definitely check it out if you haven't before. It's worth at least one ride for normal people. But if you're a Disney freak like me you might want to ride several times over. ;) And don't worry about wasting valuable time! I never waited in line more than 5 minutes!

You'll find it in the lower levels of The Land pavilion at Epcot. It's on the opposite end from Soarin'. You know, that attraction with the insane wait time that everyone else will be walking toward.

4. Spaceship Earth

Yes, inside that great big white sphere is a ride. An epic ride through time and space where you watch the dawn of civilization and technology unfold. And all of it narrated by Dame Judi Dench.

How can you not love Spaceship Earth? It's got everything you need in a classic Disney attraction. Animatronics? Yep, it's got 'em. (Including one with a shabby beard that's passed out in his garage. He creeps me out every time. He's supposed to be asleep, but to me he just looks dead.) Dramatic narration that keeps you interested? Yep, it's got that too. Insane details and breathtaking scenes? Definitely has those. Classic campy Disney humor? Of course!

Spaceship Earth is the first attraction guests come across when they enter the park and I think it's the perfect start for any day at Epcot. It's sets the tone not just for Future World but for the World Showcase too. It's a must do for anyone visiting Epcot.

3. The Carousel of Progress

This attraction is the epitome of classic Disney. Originally created for the World's Fair by Walt Disney himself the Carousel of Progress has a long and impressive history with the Disney company. It was updated sometime in the early 1990s so the end is a bit dated, but in my opinion that makes it so much more fun! The Carousel of Progress takes you through important time periods in America. You follow John and his family through the years and see how technology changed within the American household. There's an amazing song that goes with it that I always sing along with. Each time period is set in a different season or on a different holiday.

It's full of all the things you expect from Walt's time with Disney. Animatronics, family fun, campy humor, nostalgia, and a certain respect for older technology that you don't find much anymore.

As a bonus this attraction is inside an air conditioned rotating theater. It's worth a ride if only to rest your feet and sit in the cool air. But don't fall asleep! This is a quality attraction that deserves to be properly enjoyed. You might just come away with a few inside jokes! Just ask my old room mate Michelle! Better yet you'll come away singing (and believing) "There's a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow."

2. Big Thunder Mountain

Big Thunder Mountain is the perfect coaster for the whole family. It's exciting but still a little tame. It swerves and dips unexpectedly but doesn't cause that tell-tale tummy flip. Plus there's the added bonus of a cute story about a sinking mine. Don't worry you won't get drenched on this one! But there a few tiny splashes of water here and there. They're more refreshing than inconvenient.

The last time I rode Big Thunder there was a little boy behind us with her mother and his grandfather. It was his very firs "big kid coaster". He was nervous before we got on the attraction. But after the ride was over he was the most precious thing ever. He could not get over just how much fun Big Thunder Mountain was. He ran up to his grandmother and made sure to brag about how brave and strong he was for surviving his first "real" coaster.

That moment seemed to sum up why I love Big Thunder. It's just thrilling enough without causing any real discomfort. Most people can ride this one without difficulty. Which means there are more opportunities for memories to be made on this attraction. Make sure you stop by and hitch a ride on that crazy mine train! You'll love it!

1. Splash Mountain

I can't deny that Splash Mountain is my favorite Disney World attraction. I can't seem to ride it enough (I also can't seem to find people who don't mind getting wet more than two times in a day so I don't get to ride it as often as some of the other rides). This is a wonderful ride that's also perfect for family fun.

There's an adorable story that follow Brer Rabbit. He's a sneaky little guy who tends to get in a lot of trouble. You follow him on his adventures through his little "village" full of other adorable creatures (make sure to look out for more "Brer" names. The details on this ride are fantastic.) then down to his "Laughing Place", and then you follow him as he's finally caught by Brer Bear and Brer Fox. Then it's down, down, down into the briar patch. Interestingly enough, it's not the actual drop that gets you wet or even the splash that follows it. No, you're sure to get soaked long before you ever get to the big drop. I won't tell you where, though. That will ruin the surprise.

Don't be afraid to sing along if you know the songs featured in the ride (and believe me you'll know at least one). Also if you're all alone and it's late at night, don't be afraid to scream really loud at every little drop. Somehow, it makes the ride ten times more enjoyable.

And there you go. Those are my current top 5. Definately different from what they were before I left for my college program. Enjoy!

Make sure you visit these attractions if you're planning to visit Disney World any time soon!

The Waiting Game...

So when I applied for the College Program last year I only waited eleven days after my interview to find out I was accepted. Just eleven days. I was very lucky, and I'm realizing that even more right now. Haha.

Right now I'm waiting to hear back about the PI's. May 1st is fast approaching and I'm starting to get nervous. I'm not getting my hopes up, and I'm applying for everything that I can find that I'm qualified for. I have 18 days until graduation and I really want to have a job soon after that. I want to start earning and saving money pretty immediately after I graduate.

Also I talked to some of my CP friends and old roomies and we've decided we're going to try and start a reunion tradition. We're aiming to meet up around late October/Early November for Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party, and in order to do this I need money. Which means I need a job. So I'm going through an application frenzy amidst trying to finish my assignments for my classes and start preparing for final exams (and then on top of all of that is actual graduation cermony plans).

I'm crazy busy and I feel like I just might lose my mind. Haha. But I'm buckling down and staying on top of things. I actually don't have a lot left to do this time around. I've been working hard this year to not procrastinate and stay organized, and that's really starting to pay off for me. So while I have overwhelming moments, generally I'm not extremely overloaded.

Also they got our cap and gowns in at the University bookstore today. I'm picking mine up tomorrow once my money transfers so I can pay for it. It's really starting to hit me that this is the end of my college career. I'm about to enter real life and I barely feel prepared.

I just have to have faith that it will all work out, and I'll find something absolutely perfect for me. Or at least find a way to truly strike out on my own. :D

As for when I'll hear back about the PI's...I was told May 1st, but I was browsing Kristin's old blog (A Journey into My Imagination) and she was told the same thing but didn't hear back until May 11th. So, really, anything is possible. More than likely I won't know anything until exams start or possibly even until after I've already graduated. I'm just taking it day by day and trying very hard not to put all my eggs in one basket. I'm still worried that it's a bad sign that I haven't been contacted for a follow up or second interview at all. Some positions don't do second interviews, but some do. So I'm a little worried about that. But we'll see.

Keep crossing your fingers for me! I'm hoping for the best (while still keeping my eyes peeled for other opportunities).

I've gotten some comments on here over the last few weeks that have been very encouraging! Thank you so much, everyone!

Good luck to everyone getting ready for their programs! I'm so excited for all of you!

I just wanted to post something to tell you guys what's going on with me right now. Right now, I'm gearing up for exams (and graduation). I'm working on a lot of final projects and papers, and just trying to make it through to May 7th when I will hopefully graduate.

I haven't heard anything from Disney yet, which I'm taking as a good sign. I know of a few people that have gotten turned down recently. I have for sure been turned down for both the marketing PI's I applied for. Which is fine. But as far as I can tell I'm still in the running for the Graphic Design one and the Creative Solutions one. We'll see what happens.

Keep crossing your fingers for me!

Also I'm going to try to put together some more vlogs this weekend. I have more footage so I really should. :)

Words of Wisdom

Hello!

I am going to be doing the DCP starting in August I'm so so excited..I'll be in merchandise! I'm a little nervous too though, about the hectic nature of the hours and the fact that I'm still trying to find a roommate. Do you have any words of wisdom? :)

Congratulations! I remember that horrible waiting period between getting in and actually going. It was torture. I couldn't focus on anything other than the dream of being at Disney World for five months. In terms of words of wisdom let me see what I can tell you...

Let's start with roommates. I know how stressful that can be. For a bit I didn't think I'd be able to find one, but the biggest tip I can give you is to use Facebook to your advantage. Join the Facebook group for your program and talk to people. Get to know the people who will be on your program, and if you do that someone will stand out to you. You'll make a connection with someone and before you know it you'll have a roommate. That's what happened with me and lots of other people that I know.

But if all else fails don't be afraid of a roommate you don't know. I knew lots of people who didn't meet their roommates until they moved in and they ended up being the best of friends. And if the roommate thing turns out badly they are more than willing to help you anyway they can. I had friends that were able to move to a different apartment due to roommate situations. Believe me, if it's just too bad for you to stand they will help you.

Now, let's talk about your role. Merchandise. Merchandise is great role. It can be stressful, but only if you let it. Most of the time I had a great time at work. The people I worked with became some of my best friends while I was there. You see them a lot and so they sort of become your family. If you work as best you can, and make sure to be patient and pleasant with the guests you will have no problem. The technical aspects of the job are not hard, and Disney's training is handled very well. You'll go in knowing basically what you need to do, and the things you won't know will be easy to figure out.

As for hours, in the Fall there are only a few weeks that I experienced with truly hectic hours. The week of Christmas was very busy and I had lots of hours to work that week, and the week of New Years was down right insane. But it's usually never more than you can handle. You will always have at least one day off a week, and they were always give you a decent amount of hours between shifts. If they ever don't do those things then don't be afraid to have a talk with your manager. That's what they are there for. Now, if you work at Epcot be aware that you'll have busy weeks when the other parks don't. Epcot hosts the International Food & Wine Festival in the fall and it will be crowded. This is a favorite event for season pass holders and locals. During Food & Wine if you work the World Showcase you'll have plenty of hours. Not so many that you feel like you're constantly working like around Christmas and New Years, but enough that you'll really look forward to getting your paycheck every week.

Overall, I'd say there's really nothing to be nervous about. There will always be someone to help you, and when there's not somehow things always work out. That's the magic of Disney. Things somehow always work out.

Just make sure to maintain a positive outlook and show everyone at your location that you're willing to work. As long as you do that then they will be more than happy to help you out when you really need it. Proving that you're willing to do your best no matter what the task goes a long way with managers.

But make sure you take advantage of everything you can during your off time too! Don't be afraid to go places by yourself! Just because no one else has the same days off as you does not mean you can't go to the parks. Take a camera and play with photography in the parks. Try different foods. Meet characters. Do as much as you possibly can and I promise you you will have an excellent time on your program.

Congratulations, be safe, and have fun! You'll make memories you'll never forget and friends that you'll never lose. Enjoy every moment.

Professional Internship Interview

Okay, so I just finished my interview for the Professional Internship Program. It was scheduled for 8:30 and I hung up with my interviewer at 8:50. I'm hoping that's a decent length for a PI interview. The questions were what I expected. A lot of them were about team work, flexibility, computer experience, etc.

She said she would forward my interview information to the managers of the roles I'm interested in and then they would decide what to do from there and that I would hear by May 1st at the latest. Keep your fingers crossed and wish me luck!

It sounded like I was being seriously considered for the Graphic Design and Creative, Inc. PIs.

I'm excited! I'll keep you guys updated! :D

Suggestion for Any Future CPers

Okay, so I feel the need to make a suggestion to any future CPers who might be reading this.

Don't think you're too old to meet the characters! Suspend disbelief and just let yourself be a kid again! Honestly, don't JUST ride the rides. That's only half of the Disney Parks experience. Go meet characters! The lines aren't as long as you think and often times the result is completely worth it. I met nearly every character I could. The only ones I didn't get a chance to stop and take photos with were Daisy, Stitch, and Chip and Dale. However I did interact with Stitch and Chip and Dale at the Halloween Party. Which I also suggest! It was my favorite night while I was there.

If you are into meeting characters then definitely go to the Christmas and Halloween parties. They pull out rare characters and the rare characters are the ones I had the BEST experiences with!

Also, if you're looking for a cheap yet awesome gift idea for a loved one who can't be with you in Orlando do a character greeting video! Or have the characters autograph a shirt and take pictures of them as they sign it! It's fun for you, the characters, and the recipient of the gift! I decided to do a character greeting video for my nephew and sister-in-law, and some of my best character experiences came from those greetings! The characters love to talk and interact! So the more opportunities you give them to do that, the more fun you'll have!

Take a look at my character greeting videos! And then decide if this is something you want to do. It took a lot of time, but it was completely worth it. I went to three of the four parks for these greetings and used the Halloween party to my advantage! I HAD A BLAST!

I'm sorry guys! I totally didn't keep you guys updated. I still have lots of home video stuff from while I was there. I just haven't edited it together for vlogs. And everything's been so crazy here since I got home...I haven't really had time to tell you guys about the end.

I apologize.

But I thought about this blog the other day. I've applied for four different Professional Internships, and I'm calling to schedule my phone interview tomorrow. I also have a friend that's in Orlando right now on the program. I'm sure she's having a wonderful time. :)

I had a great time on my college program. I made lots of good friends, worked my BUTT off, and had a lot of good times. I still love the Walt Disney World resort, and the Walt Disney Company. My goals have changed a little since I started the program though. It's something that only practical work experience could have helped me see.

Anyway, I want to encourage anyone who wants to be a part of the program to just do it. To go for it. It may not be all sunshine and rainbows, but it's well worth it. Yes, you get to make magic, and it's amazing. But that doesn't mean it's not WORK because it is. So don't go there to party. Go there to help make people's vacations brighter, and gain rewarding experiences.

I had technical difficulties with this first one. I lost a lot of footage so the actual driving footage is all I have left. But I still hope you all enjoy!

The next one is during the days before check in when we went to Islands of Adventure. It was a very unorganized experience and the place was insanely crowded. I mean it was awesome to be there, but it was just WAY too congested to enjoy it TOO much.

Chillin' Out

Okay, so I haven't posted lately, but that's because nothing truly exciting has happened. it's just me hanging out and working at Disney World. I work, then have days off, then go back to work. But I've discovered a few fun things:

1) Splash Mountain is WAY better at night. Espescially when you decide to scream at every single drop (even the tiny one at the end).

2) It's impossible to go to France in the World Showcase withOUT buying and devouring Chocolate Mousse.

3) Winnie the Pooh's ride in Fantasyland is WAY MORE FUN than Peter Pan's Flight. Especially when you're "bouncing with Tigger".

4) The Snow White figure in "Snow White's Scary Adventures" looks EXACTLY like Michelle Duda.

6) The Halloween Decorations at the Magic Kingdom are the cutest decorations to ever exist.

7) That the Indiana Jonas stunt double in the "Epic Stunt Spectacular" should be my boyfriend. For real, Young Harrison lookalike? YES PLEASE.

8) Star Tours will forever be one of my favorite rides, and I will always remember it in it's original form.

9) Celebration Fudge is the YUMMIEST thing I have ever tasted in my life. Thank you Main Street Confectionary.

10) Summer Nightastic was the BEST fireworks show I have ever seen and should be brought back fairly soon just because of it's epicness.

So there you go. There's ten things that I've learned since I've been here.

I should have more to write about once my classes start on the 20th. But right now, there's not much to report. Although I still need to download all my Flip Cam footage to my computer and edit together some vlogs. I'll get to that eventually. I might do a post about work scheduling sometime soon. We'll see.

Days Off

I just had my first two days off. I had yesterday and the day before off to play. I spent the first day at Epcot browsing and enjoying the day, and the second at Hollywood Studios enjoying thrills and laughs of all kinds. I've now eaten at 4 countries in the World Showcase, and I'm determined to eat at the rest of them at least once before I leave.

I FINALLY got to see Fantasmic again. The last time I saw it was in 2006 and it's my favorite night time show ever. The weather and my schedule finally decided to get along and allow me to see this wonderful show. I screamed like the silly fangirl I am when Mickey appeared on stage, and enjoyed watching Mandie be blown away by the Lion King and Pocahontas portions of the show.

I've decided going to the parks after or before work just takes too much out of me so I think I might save my trips to the parks for my days off. I'm not completely dismissing visits before work (considering it looks like I'm going to be working a lot of mid-morning through late night shifts). I really want to spend my next day off at the Magic Kingdom, but I feel like I should pay a visit to the Animal Kingdom since I haven't been to DAK since 2006 and I REALLY want to see the Finding Nemo musical.

Anyway, I'm almost done with my training. My last night of training is tonight, and then I've got one more assessment and then an evaluation with one of my managers. After that I get put into the regular rotation. I can't wait until I fall into a comfortable routine with this job. Once I do that my life will feel a lot more balanced, haha.

I'm hoping to find time to edit together lots of vlogs real soon. I'm sorry it's taken me so long, but I do have footage of lots of stuff! I just have to edit it all together and upload it.

Check In Day

All right, so time for the next part of my journey.

Check in day.

I met Mandie, Sarah, and Michelle at Pop Century at around 6:15ish. We all headed over to Vista and got in line with Rachael and Elysia. We waited for about an hour, and then we were directed to the Vista club house where we filled out some forms and got our housing assignment. Then we were whisked away to casting where we turned in our on boarding paperwork. That took about an hour. After that we moved into our apartment. We ended up in Patterson in a 3 bedroom. It's very nice. I recorded a video tour for the blog (I'll be working on posting all of that on one of my days off next week).

We unpacked and relaxed for a bit before heading over to The Commons for our housing meeting. Which was long, and only slightly boring. We had very entertaining leaders for the housing meeting so it wasn't too bad.

That was basically it. The rest of the day was spent buying groceries and unpacking.

I'm currently in the middle of training, and so far training has been lots of fun. I've all ready had Traditions, and Discovery Day (Park Orientation) where super secret things I'm not allowed to tell you about happened (All awesome). Every one is really nice. I love working at Epcot so far. You'll find that just like the parks themselves their cast members all have different vibes too. Everyone I've encountered at Epcot seems very laid back and chill. It makes training there very comfortable. I'm enjoying it.

My schedule is jam packed, but with the Food & Wine Festival coming up and LOTS of CPs leaving they need all of us new cast members trained and ready to go very quickly. I'm loving my location and my co-workers. Epcot has such a diverse group of cast members. I've been meeting awesome people from all over the world.

I think I have the best job ever. For real.

Road Trip

Hey guys! So I'm sitting in my living room with my lap top, and since I finally have a spare moment I've decided to blog. Haha.

We'll start with part 1 of my College Program journey.

The road trip.

We actually ended up leaving Thursday night. We left around 10:30 PMish, and got to our hotel JUST over the Georgia state line around 4 AM. We slept for 6 hours and then got back out on the road. We got to our hotel at 3:30 and then waited about an hour for our room to be ready. (During this time I was forced to deal with an extremely rude bellman.)

When our room was finally ready we went to Earl of Sandwich at Downtown Disney for dinner. (Best. Sandwich. Ever.) and shopped for a bit. Then we all collapsed and got up super early to go to the Magic Kingdom. We hit the highlights (had very short wait times) and then headed over to Hollywood Studios around 4:30. Again, we hit the highlights (I found out Fantasmic is only performed a few nights a week now. Sadness.) and then we ate dinner at Sci-Fi Dine In (so good!) and then we went home for more rest.

Saturday we hit Islands of Adventure. We headed straight for the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. We waited 90 minutes to ride the Forbidden Journey, and then attempted to shop a bit. I bought a wand. More specifically I bought Remus Lupin's wand (because he's my favorite). Then we walked over to The Lost Continent and did Poseidon's Fury (LOVE that attraction, and our guide was AWESOME. For real. Hilarious.) We hit the rest of the park and then went BACK to WWoHP after riding Spiderman. I tried a Butterbeer and bought the souvenir mug to go with it. Eventually we hit every attraction possible for one day (AND blasted people with the water cannons outside of Ripsaw Falls).

Sunday we went First Baptist of Orlando, ate at Chevy's, and then shopped some more at Downtown Disney. Then the PRE CHECK IN DINNER! YAY! Where Michelle and I might two room mates for our third bedroom! Elycia and Rachael. We finalized plans for the next morning and hung out a bit, and then I went back to the hotel and went to bed early. Because...

MONDAY WAS CHECK IN! Yay!

I'm here in Orlando at my apartment in Patterson!

I'm so excited! I'm all unpacked. I just have a few things left to do (talk to security about my car, register for classes) until I'm completely settled. My parents are leaving Wednesday morning (which is also the day I have Traditions.)

Anyway, I'm about to make a grocery run to Wal-Mart and see if I can find the front desk. Then I think I'm going to dinner with my parents. :)

I've met a bunch of my fellow bloggers over the last few days. (the roomie Michelle, Jasmine, Molly. And I think I briefly spotted Lauren in a line the other day).

I don't think it's hit me that I'm actually here yet. It will probably hit me when I go to Disney University for Traditions on Wednesday.

Okay, so I'm sitting here posting to the blog on my lap top for probably the last time ever before I leave for Florida. And I can honestly say, that I don't think being *this* close to Disney has hit me yet. It probably won't hit me until we check in to our hotel tomorrow evening. Anyway I'll be filming EVERYTHING, but I won't be able to edit it together until I'm settled in Florida so this will probably be my last vlog for a bit. BUT I will be updating the blog VERY frequently.

I can update the blog from my phone so I'll be keeping you guys informed that way for the first four days I'm there. Also if you don't yet, follow me on Twitter. I can update Twitter from my phone as well, so that will be updated a lot too.

Today I'm doing some last minute things to get ready. I'm going to clean out my car, and then I'm going to run to Target and get some things I need. After that I'll stop by Wal-Mart (and use my gift card) to get gas. Then we'll probably start packing up the cars. :D

The time has come (the Walrus said). This time tomorrow I will be on my way to the Sunshine State and the most magical place on Earth. Who's excited? I AM!

I deposited my last paycheck from the job in the bank the other day. I originally thought I was going to be needed next week, but I've been told I won't be. So, Friday is my last day at work. I didn't reach my goal of $800, but I'm still proud of what I did manage to save.

Tomorrow is my last day of my internship, and then I've got a farewell lunch with my cousin. Then Friday I'm working, and then Friday night after I get off work I've got two friends coming over to hang out one last time before I leave, Saturday is my family send off party, Sunday I have my cousin's bridal shower, and then all I have left to do is pack for Florida (which I've already pretty much done.)

The countdown is winding down, folks! It's very exciting!

So my adventure today was ALL about getting this done. Only Forsyth County's court and government buildings are so spread out that it took us FOREVER to find the Office of Deeds. We walked in the heat (and in circles) for HOURS. I, however, learned that Forsyth County has a "Hall of Justice" which really made the comic book nerd in me happy. But I'm now sunburned from all the outside walking. (And exhausted).

Tomorrow I plan on filming and editing a vlog about the classes I plan on taking, and I'm also going to start filming things for packing vlog. :)

We're into crunch time now, people! I'm so excited!

Next Wednesday will be my last day for my internship, and then next Saturday will be my Send-Off part with my family friends (which I am BEYOND excited for!) My friend Holly is now coming with us to Orlando. She's going to be hanging out with me while I get settled at Disney and then leaving with my parents on the morning of August 11th. She's never been to Disney and I can not wait to get her down there! We're also going to go to Islands of Adventure and pay a visit to Hogsmeade as we're both HUGE Harry Potter fans. (I fully intend on buying a wand).

Alright guys, it's time for another savings update. Today I added $71.01 to my Disney savings. So here is my new total:

I've worked four extra hours this week so my paycheck should be around $240 next week which will mean I'll get to put $201 into my savings. So that will help a lot.

In other news, I still don't have a car. The insurance guy is not taking my dad's calls, apparently. So we can't buy a car until we talk to him and get our money.

I've only accomplished one thing on my "Top 5 things to do before I pack list", and I realized last night that I need to make it a Top 6 list. I need to add "Print Direct Deposit form" to the list.

Mom is also planning a send off party for me on July 31st. That should be a good time.

We're in crunch time now here, folks. The stress is starting to get to me (especially with all the drama of buying a car). I have to finish my top 6 list, I would also like to buy a few more things that I need, I've got to start trying to pack (I don't even know where to begin). Like a lot of other people I'm beginning to feel like I'm behind on everything even though I've been preparing for this since February.

Expect a new vlog this weekend sometime about the classes I want to take in Disney. If it doesn't come this weekend then look for it early next week. I should start my packing vlog in a couple of weeks. It might take a while as I plan to spread out my packing so I'm not doing it all at one time.

Now for other updates.

I've been unable to find an apartment in Boone so far. I've found a few good options, but I've had a hard time getting in touch with any of these people looking to sublet. I have a feeling I won't be able to find anything until closer to the spring semester. But I'm going to keep looking until I leave and hopefully something will be nailed down.

Sad news about Ruby. We have to get her injuries appraised again. They may have to put her down. Our initial adjuster-man missed several things, and now it looks like the repairs our going to cost over the limit the insurance company will spend. So I will more than likely have to get another car (I would say new, but we can't afford new). Today, I'm going to a lot that we like a lot. We got mom's van there. I'm going to test drive several cars and see what I like. I'm trying to keep the price some where around or below 8,000. Which limits my options severely. But I'm going to go look around the lot and drive somethings and see what I like. Right now, there's a Toyota Camry that I'm very interested in, but we'll see what happens.

Right now I'm driving a rental car. It's REALLY nice. It's a 2009 Toyota Camry, and it's BLUE. Really blue! So I nicknamed it Geenie. I really like Geenie. I want to keep Geenie, but that's not going to happen. Geenie is spoiling me with her smooth driving self.

I kinda feel like I'm cheating on Ruby.

Also this past week, my cousins, and one of my aunts started trying to plan a trip to Florida to visit me in September! I'm so excited! I was so afraid that I wouldn't be able to see any one other than my parents during my time in Florida, but that is hopefully not going to be the case! My dad's side of the family is so close to me that in order to describe how close we are I usually tell people that when I say cousin what I really mean is sibling. My cousins are essentially my siblings. I love them dearly, and I'm so excited that a few of my sisters/cousins are trying to work out a visit!

My parents are also trying to plan a visit in the middle of December. Mom wants to do late Thanksgiving/late Birthday/Early Christmas. Which means I'll have to have my Christmas shopping done WAY early this year. But that's perfectly fine with me. I'm an early Christmas gift shopper anyway.

I'll be posting a real detailed post about my summer internship soon. I haven't really told you guys much about it. And I need to do another vlog sometime soon. Any suggestions on what it should be about? It's now been a month since my last vlog which is just sad.

Alight, normally I wouldn't update so soon. I try not to seem obsessive and update every day, but I just HAVE to post about his before I forget it!

I had the WEIRDEST dream about the College Program last night.

Okay, in the dream it was August 5th, and my family was headed to Disney. My mom and dad we're in their van, and I was in my car. I got separated from them and stumbled across this like halfway point between my house in Disney. It was weird. It was like Disney built it there as a tease or something. There were small imitations of a few of the rides and restaurants. And, apparently, in the dream I'd been there before because I noticed that they closed the smaller version of the Haunted Mansion. My family (because my parents somehow stumbled across it too) sat down and ate at a smaller version of "The Prime Time Cafe". And then we went into a store and we ran into a friend of mine that I've gone to school with since 4th grade, her name is Beth, and she was on her way BACK from doing the CP even though she's NEVER EVER EVEN applied for it. But she was coming home after doing the CP, and looked all tan and happy and was telling me how awesome it was going to be. Then I said goodbye to her, my family got back out onto the road, we went on our way, and I woke up.

But THAT was my dream. Isn't that weird? The winding down of the countdown clock is really getting to me. GAH, 47 days! That's a little over a month and a half! So excited!

Okay, so I'm still not registered for classes at ASU. They have two courses that are specifically intended for College Program Participants.We can be enrolled in them at ASU while in Disney and basically it's a way to have 6 semester hours of credit for doing the program. You're registered for two classes at App and then take 2 classes while you're at Disney so that you can earn whatever credits you need (for insurance purposes or, like me, to keep your loan grace period from starting). I talked to Sharon about registering for them and she told me to contact someone named Heidi so I could be added to the list. I contacted Heidi, and then contacted Sharon again (just in case).

That was the third week in May. Now it's June 16th and I'm still not registered. Sharon said it should have been done by the first week in June, and it still hasn't been done. I e-mailed her yesterday and I still haven't heard anything from her.

But I suspect I'll be hearing from her soon. Hopefully I'll have this taken care of in the next couple of weeks.

Alright, I got a paycheck on Monday. Time to update my savings totals.

Credit: $214.59
Savings: $122.75

So, still not stellar, but better than before. I also changed my percentages. Here are the new ones:

Okay, so I've been very very bad with my first two paychecks. I've spent way too much money, and bought too many things I don't need.

No more spending. NONE. The only time I'm allowed to spend money is when I'm going out to eat or going to the movies. THAT'S IT. No more DVDs, no more TOMS shoes, no more Flip Camera accessories, and no more trips to Disney Stores! I'll be in Disney in 53 days. I can buy Disney stuff then.

Anyways, I've taken what's left in my account and used my percentages on that.

So, here are my current SAD savings totals.

Credit: $104.59
Savings: $62.75

From now on I will figure my percentages as SOON as I get a paycheck. I can NOT let this happen every week.

College Program CHAOS

Okay so a few crazy things have happened to CPers since June started.

1) Room mate matching opened up

Room mate matching means Disney will find a room mate for you. They look at your arrival date, your role, and your age and match you with another CPer. I did not opt into this (so I thought) because I wanted to find my own room mate (And I did, Hi Michelle!). Imagine my surprise when I get an e-mail from Disney Housing telling me about my new room mate. She seemed really nice and she sent me an e-mail but I already had a room mate. So I got in touch with her, explained the situation, and then opted out. After that I quickly contacted Michelle and asked for her application number so that I could request her as my room mate. I did this, and now Michelle is my OFFICIAL room mate! YAY!

But how did I opt in? I thought I had said no earlier and told them I was picking my own room mate. Well, apparently I opted in. This happened to several other people. Your options weren't explained very well. But it's all good now.

2) Disney sent out an e-mail asking if anyone wanted to switch from August 9th to September 6th.

This caused CHAOS on Facebook. Luckily, my awesome room mates warned me about it before I even GOT the e-mail. I'm not sure if September 6th is a new date that they added or if they just over booked people on the 9th. Either way this e-mail caused a few panic attacks. Some people thought Disney wasn't really asking, and they were just notifying us of the switch. Some people thought they were politely saying "You MUST change dates."

Whatever they were requesting I'm not changing my date. I'm going insane waiting for August. I do not want to add ANY days to my countdown. I WILL be there on August 9th, and hopefully I'll see a lot of you there.

On a more personal update note.

I no longer need to worry about Financial Aid. As long as the school knows my situation THEY will take care of it. I've also been given permission by my parents to opt out of my federal work study. Mom said I should spend the last semester completely focused on schoolwork and enjoying my last semester.

And I'm all for it.

Nothing too exciting has happened this week. I've fallen into a bit of a rhythm with my job. I love it! Good hours, good pay. I'm trying not to spend a lot of money. I bought a pair of TOMS the other day but that is the LAST thing I'm buying. (BTW, if you follow me on Twitter you got a chance to vote and help me decide which pair of TOMS to buy. Thanks for your opinion if you voted! It was fun! haha.) Anything else I buy will be dinners or movie tickets. Everything else is going into savings. I'll keep you updated with totals and stuff. Here's how I'm splitting up my savings percentages:

To Credit: 50%
To Disney: 30%
To Me: 20%

Money to be transferred to savings as of now: $368 ($230 of it will go to pay off my credit card). Once I pay off the balance on my card those percentages will change. I want to have my card completely paid off before I get to Disney.

You guys will have to help me stay accountable for my spending. I'm not buying anything else except for things that have to do with going out and enjoying the summer with my friends. Nothing else.

Also I started my "internship" with Winston-Salem Monthly last week! It's not technically an internship (because they're not supposed to have one) so we're calling it "shadowing". I go in once a week do some grunt work, sit in on some meetings, and learn a lot about how a magazine is put together. I really enjoyed my first day.

I have to call financial aid tomorrow and clarify some things about the federal awards I accepted. I'm confused because I was under the impression that I could accept the federal awards for one semester, but I wasn't given that option. So now I have to call and ask my adviser what to do. I also have to contact this girl about subleasing her apartment for second semester, and see what her room mates are like.

Also I'm turning in my key and having my apartment inspected on Friday morning. I can not wait to be done with that apartment. I'm very excited to hand back that key.

I need to start making a packing list soon. If anyone knows where I can find a really good one let me know! I don't even know where to begin making a packing list for 5 months worth of things.

A Roller Coaster Weekend!

I'm back from the beach! We actually got back on Monday night.

I've got a lot to tell you guys! We'll start with Friday. On Friday we left for the beach and made good time. We got there and Holly and I decided to go to the Tanger Outlets. We went shopping for work clothes, and then went to the DISNEY OUTLET! They had crazy sales! I'll show you my favorite items that I bought!

After that we went back and crashed at the hotel. Saturday we got up and went over to Broadway at the Beach. I bought two pairs of sunglasses and went to BuildaBear where I bought a Jonas Dog! I named him Kevin! He's precious! Look!

He plays 3 Jonas brothers songs and his shirt as Jonas on the back! He's also wearing Jonas dog tags. I love him! :) After BuildaBear we went over to Mayfest and stood in line to meet Tiffany Thornton and Jasmine Richards from 1:00 to about 3:30. I got to meet them both! And I got some video of Debby Ryan and Nathan Kress! Didn't get a chance to glimpse Drake Bell. His line was INSANE! Here's the photos of my meet'n'greets:

After that we went back to the room and refreshed ourselves and then headed out to eat dinner at Margaritaville! That was fun, and my meal was delicious! I had sirloin and shrimp with mixed veggies and garlic mashed potatoes. We went back to the room and went to bed after that. Sunday we did a lot of nothing. We rested, swam, and just relaxed. That night we went out with my family and played a game of putt-putt. Monday we packed up the cars and spent the morning at the Myrtle Beach State Park. Mom, Holly, and I decided to leave earlier than the rest of the family, and while on the way to North Myrtle Beach (in an attempt to get through traffic and get home) the car in front of me decided to turn suddenly. I got stopped, but the Ford F150 behind me did not. I was rear ended.

Everyone was fine, the car still runs, and it was not my fault. But it certainly wasn't the way I wanted to end such an awesome weekend. So, now I'm dealing with insurance stuff, and praying that Ruby's frame isn't bent. Because if Ruby's frame isn't bent the insurance company will total her. Mom says no matter what I'll have a car, but I don't want A car. I want MY car. I want Ruby.

So cross your fingers that they won't total my beautiful Ruby.

Yesterday I started my summer job. I'm a nanny for a family that lives close by. I get to hang out with two precious little girls all day. It's lots of fun and very rewarding. Tomorrow I have my second day of work and start my first day of "shadowing" Angie (she's the Ad sales director at two local magazines). I'll be shadowing her from 9-12 and then working from 1:15 until about 11 PM. So tomorrow will be a long day.

Countdown update: 64 days until I leave for Orlando! My family is leaving on Thursday, October 5th. 4 days before my check in! I'm so excited!

Anyway, that was my weekend! I went through a whole lot of craziness!

Beach Road Trip by angellwings featuring Old Navy

Make that tank top purple and put the spots in the shape of a heart and you've got my outfit for tomorrow!

I'm going to the beach tomorrow. I'm leaving early in the morning with my mom and my friend Holly. We're going to get there, buy groceries for the room, and then my dad and brother's family will be joining us later in the day. I'm very excited about this trip!

Holly and I will essentially be on a seperate vacation from the rest of my family. I'm driving my car so we get to go where ever we want to go. We've decided on two things.

1) We're having lunch at Margaritaville one day. Our parents (hers or mine) will NEVER eat there so we're going to. (We also want to eat at Planet Hollywood one day).

2) We're going to Mayfest where I will hopefully be meeting Tiffany Thornton from Sonny with a Chance. I've got my camera charged and ready to go. I'll be the oldest non-parent or sibling in the line to meet her but that's okay. :) I'm also hoping to meet Jasmine Richards (from Camp Rock) if I can get through Tiffany's line fast enough. (Also I'm not sure how it will work but at the same tent, at the same time will be Debby Ryan and Nathan Kress. So I might meet them as well!)

So, those will be the highlights of my trip and I might film them with the Flip (if I can convince Holly to stand in line with me at Mayfest that is.)

Anyway I'll be back on Monday so that I can start work! YAY! I'll be working Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, and I'll be shadowing the Ad Sales director for two local magazines on Wednesday. So, next week will be very busy!

Let's Talk Summer...Jobs

So, if you follow me on Twitter or if you're my friend on Facebook you know about my summer job troubles. I started applying for summer jobs at the end of March, and in total I applied for 17 jobs. I work at a daycare during the school year and I wanted to do something different so applied to restaurants and retail stores. I was hoping to sort of know what I was doing before I get to Disney as I've never worked retail.

But alas, that was not to be. I heard from Target. They said they had nothing to offer me at the moment. Then I was told by Texas Land and Cattles employment recruiter to go by the restaurant and fill out an application in person so that I could meet the manager (only to get there and be greeted by one nice hostess and one MEAN hostess.) The e-mail said to go by any day of the week from 2-4. The only day I could go by was Friday, and I got there filled out an application and was told that the managers only meet people Tuesday through Thursday (and that they would NOT be happy if they had to stop and talk to me) in a VERY RUDE tone. So I told the mean hostess to forget it and just take my application.

I left knowing that I wouldn't be getting a job there (even though I was certain I'd be a better hostess than EITHER of the ones they had).

As for the other 15 jobs...I never heard a thing. I never even got an official rejection from any of them. So I came home from school with no summer job. I had planned on having a job long before I got home, but that didn't work out. So my roommate said she had a profile on this website called Care.com and that she had just gotten some babysitting jobs off of it, and Sharon (my career development HERO) told me I should just take it easy this summer and look for odd jobs and I thought babysitting would be the best odd job for me. So I went on Care.com and made a profile. I immediately found a job with a family that seemed very convenient. I applied for it, and then got an e-mail about calling to set up a meeting. I met with the family, and now I've got a job!

I'm very excited about it! I start a week from today! I get $10 an hour and I'll be working at least 20 hours a week! I'll be able to save money for Disney AND pay off my credit card balance! YAY!

Also, I've had since May 5th off to do what I please. I've been shopping (too much) and hanging out with friends. It's been awesome. This is my last week of having nothing to do and so I'm enjoying it. I have friends coming over tonight, another friend coming over Wednesday, and in the mean time I'm cleaning and packing for the beach. That's right the BEACH. I'm going to Myrtle Beach this weekend in the hopes of meeting Tiffany Thornton (Sonny with a Chance) and Jasmine Richards (Camp Rock/Camp Rock 2) on Saturday (I might meet Nathan Kress [iCarly] and Debby Ryan [Suite Life on Deck] too.) There might be too much of a mob for me to meet them, but I'm totally gonna try.

My Cosmetic Essentials (That I Will Be Taking to Florida)

You can replace all the Mary Kay in this with Arbonne. My mom sells Arbonne so now I use their mineral foundation. I do still use Mary Kay's lipsticks and glosses though. I love BareMineral's eye shadows. My favorite is their gold. I use dark brown shadow first and then apply the gold on top to give it a warmer tone. I use dark navy blue Arbonne eyeliner to make my eye color pop, and Paradise Pink lipstick by Mary Kay with Arbonne's gold lip gloss to bring out the warm tones in the eye shadow. I use a rosy pink blush to help bring out the warmth as well. And I swear by Maybeline's Great Lash Mascara. I've tried other mascara's but I always come back to that one.

When it comes to my hair, if I want it curly, I use Catwalk or Curly Sexy Hair. Which one I use depends on how tight of a hold I want. When I want it straight I use Phyto's smooth serum to keep my hair from becoming too frizzy and I spray on some of Bed Head's "Head Rush" spray for some extra shine. I LOVE OPI nail polishes. Those three colors included above are my favorite nail colors that I have. I especially love them in the summer.

And those are the cosmetic essentials I'll be bringing with me to Florida.

And THOSE are my addiction. I have an addiction to Wayfarer style sunglasses. I buy cheap knock offs of them ALL the time. I have 8 pairs in my car right now. I'm pretty sure I have enough to go with any outfit I could EVER wear. They'll be with me in Florida too.

So, this is just a post to day that there will be another post coming later. I've got a lot of personal updates to vent about. Plus I've had some ideas for Top 5 Lists.

Anyway, I have some videos that I'll be posting fairly soon. I'm going out tonight with some friends and I'm gonna try to take some video without freaking them out, haha.

Also I wanted to say I hope everyone checking in tomorrow has safe travels and LOTS of fun waiting in all those lines, haha. I'm jealous of every single one of you. I still have 83 days to go.

Top 5 Things to Pass the Time

1. Work -- yes I want a job for the paycheck, but it will also give me something to do for the next 88 days. If a good chunk of my day is busy then the days will pass quicker. (Oh, and I THINK I got a job. But I'll share more about that when I hear an official word.)

2. Summer Reading List -- Having books to read passes the time greatly. I have a list of books that I have here in the house but haven't read or never finished. I'll be taking care of that list this summer. Reading is one of my favorite things to do and it always keeps me busy. I'll be doing another top 5 about my Top 5 Favorite Summer Reads later so look out for that!

3. Spending time with Friends and Family -- Hanging out with my friends around home ALWAYS keeps me busy. I enjoy hanging out with people and just generally having a *classy* good time. I adore my family as well, and spend any time I can with them. They are all awesome.

4. Writing Fanfiction -- Yes, I write fanfiction. I'm good at it too! I just tied for an award at a fandom specific awards site! Fanfiction is fun, and I've met a ton of cool people because of it! 5. Watch Movies -- whether that's at the theater or in my own home. I LOVE movies. There are a TON that I want to see this summer so I'll be spending lots of time at our local theater. My Top 5 Summer Clothing Essentials

My Five Summer Essentials by angellwings featuring Steve Madden shoes

First of all, I hope everyone had a great Mother's Day!

Okay, so this isn't very Disney related, but I was bored tonight so I made a Top 5 Polyvore Set.

These items are my Top 5 Summer Essentials. The things that I can not survive a summer without.

1) An oversized handbag. I am a BIG FAN of large handbags. I carry one year around. I just believe in having a purse big enough to fit my universe in. Need to take your lunch with you? Throw it in a ziplock bag or a small insulated lunch pail and then stick in your purse. Need to bring a notebook or a binder with you? Put it in the bag. Need a change of clothes? Throw that in there too. No worries, it will all fit. BECAUSE YOUR PURSE IS HUGE!

2) Sandals. I can never have too many pairs of sandals. I wear them all the time. I like the flat ones the best. They're comfortable and cute. The perfect shoe for summer. They are my annual summer addiction.

3) Wayfarer style sunglasses. I have at least 8 pairs of these in my car. I am not lying to you. I look for cute pairs every where I go. My DREAM is to have an authentic pair of Ray Bans, but that won't happen any time soon. So until then I buy cheap imitations and store them in the arm rest of Ruby the Escahpay.

4) Old Navy tank tops. They're cheap, cool, layer-able, and just plain cute. I have at least 4 in different colors. I wear them all the time. My favorite casual summer top by far. If you haven't before go by Old Navy and purchase one or two. You won't regret it.

5) American Eagle bermuda shorts. I buy a new pair every summer. They fit so well, and look so cute. You can't go wrong with denim bermudas. They'll completely worth the money. (Good Tip: If you have a pair of jeans with worn out hems and knees don't throw them away! Feel free to cut them off and create your own bermudas.)

I'm Back Home!

I'M DONE WITH SCHOOL! YAY!

And on Wednesday I moved out of my apartment. I spent the day packing my car and driving back to my lovely small town that's still closer to a Target and SEVERAL Starbucks stores than Boone. I arrived back home Wednesday night and then spent Thursday unpacking and doing laundry. Today has been spent unpacking storage containers and sorting through things, throwing out what I don't need and putting away the things that I do. I'm so crazed right now because of it. My brain can no longer process what goes where.

So, I'm taking a break to blog about it. Here are my pictures of EVERYTHING I've got to find a place for.

So, as you can see my room and my house is a mess. It looks a little better now since I've finished clearing out my containers. Once I find a place for everything I plan to film a vlog and show you guys all the disney merchandise in my room alone, lol. My room is COVERED in Disney, haha.

So, yesterday I had to go on a last ditch effort to get some questions, and you guys came through! I have three real beautiful questions in my inbox right now! Thank you! I really do appreciate it!

But, as so many people on Formspring have experienced, the anonymity can sometimes be a bad thing. People decide to take advantage of that, and use it to be cruel. This happened to me this morning. Now, I'll say that while these comments do not make me doubt myself, they do make me angry. They make me angry that I know someone, somewhere who would say these things anonymously because this can only mean that whoever this is is being nice to me to my face. Which means that I'm being duped into believing someone is a friend or an acquaintance. These person's comments (Yes, I'm certain it was one person who submitted TWO comments) include the following:

"You are a terrible singer I wish someone had told you that before you entered a singing competition."

and

"Do you realize you cant sing ?"

Now I'm not one to reject constructive criticism, but this isn't constructive at all. Whoever this is just needs to say this stuff to my face. I know I'm not the greatest singer in the world, but I also know that I have family and friends who respect me enough to TELL ME if I was that terrible. If this person meant these things at all they would be brave enough to say them to me directly without the cowardly mask of anonymity. And that's all I have to say on the matter.

Are you going to go to Universal Studios or Islands of Adventure while your down their?

Most definitely! I really enjoy Universal Studios. Disney World is my favorite but Universal has some top notch rides. I love the Mummy rollercoaster, Twister: Ride it Out, Jaws, and all the other AWESOME attractions at Universal. Plus, Islands of Adventure has Marvel Superhero Island which is my favorite place island at the moment, but that may change once I get the chance to visit THE WIZARDING WORLD OF HARRY POTTER! So pumped to see that place! I can not wait! I am a Harry Potter fanatic! I love the books and I love the movies!

When did you become interested in Disney?

Ever since I saw a little movie called "The Little Mermaid". Seriously, it was the first Disney movie I ever watched, and I loved it. I grew up in that generation that got to watch all those early nineties Disney movies when they were new releases. Movies like Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, and The Lion King all came out while I was in elementary school. Along with those new releases though my parents made sure to expose to the Disney they grew up with (So, I grew up loving movies like Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty). I also got to experience the Disney my brother grew up with as well (which was Oliver & Company, The Rescuers, and The Great Mouse Detective). I also have aunts and uncles who are Disney experts. When my aunt got married her honeymoon was in Disney World. I grew up with sing-a-longs that immortalized the place for me, and yet I didn't get to go until I was 15. So, I guess you could say me doing this program is me trying to make up for not seeing the place as a kid.

What is your dream job?

Dream job? My absolute DREAM job is to be a singer and actress. Now I doubt this will ever happen, but it's the job I dream about having. I love to sing (I have a passion for broadway and country music), I have a blast acting, and I would love to make a living doing those things! I plan on learning to play the guitar this summer. But the drawback is that if I were to be an actress I would have no drive to be taken seriously. I love comedy, and I love fluffy romantic comedies so I would probably make more of those than anything else. Of course, I wouldn't object to playing the comic relief in an action/adventure movie or the plucky sidekick in a superhero movie, lol. So, your answer is I would love to either be a country singer or an actress (of any kind: broadway, TV, or Film).

Yes, today is Star Wars Day, and May the 4th be with you! I'm a huge Star Wars fan! I'm specifically a Han Solo fan. Yes, young Harrison Ford as Han Solo just makes my little fangirl heart skip a beat. So, go watch Star Wars movies! Have a marathon! If I hadn't taken all my DVDs home already I'd have one as well.

Today is also MY LAST DAY OF EXAMS! Today I turn in my last college assignment (not counting the classes I'll be taking at Disney) until 2011! Be excited! I know I am!

Today is a busy day. I've got to take my books back (cross your fingers that I really did only rent 4 books because that's all I have), finish putting together a project, present said project, and finish shopping for my mom's Mother's Day present.

I've already gone out to get breakfast and shop for the first part of her present. Tomorrow my summer break starts and I'll have to take the job search to the extreme, but for today...MAY THE 4TH BE WITH YOU!

I entered a singing contest!

CBS is having this contest called "Ticket to the Tonys". Basically people upload videos of themselves singing pre-approved songs, and on May 27th-June 1st people can vote for their favorites. The top 5 people with the most votes are invited to take part in a sing off in New York. Then the person who wins the sing off gets to go to the Tony Awards.

Top 5 Things to Do Over the Summer...

We're in the midst of exams here at Appalachian State, and in between all of my studying I'm contemplating what I'm going to do with all my free time this summer. I'm not used to being home during the summers. Usually I'm living on top of a mountain with about forty other girls, and taking care of precious tweenage girls week in and week out. I'm not used to having most of my days free.

So, I've been thinking of how I want to take advantage of that. Since the summer will be my last 3 months in NC before I head off to live in Florida for 5 months. I've decided to make this a Top 5, but unlike my other top fives the ranks mean nothing. This is just a list of goals of FUN things to do this summer.

1. Go to Carawinds Theme Park. It's not Disney World, heck it's not even Dollywood, but it's full of good fun. I really enjoy the water park. I want to get a few people to go with me and just have a play day in the park. It will be nice to have a good dose of Roller Coasters to tie me over until Disney.

2. Go to Mayfest at Myrtle Beach. Some of my favorite Disney Stars are going to be doing meet'n'greets Memorial Day weekend and I'm totally going.

3. Go to the Sun Fun festival which is also at Myrtle Beach in June.

4. Take an overnight trip somewhere with OUT the parents or any other adults. I've never done this, and I really want to. Go somewhere over night, just me and my friends. I don't care where...just somewhere. And the hotel would have to be cheap, haha.

5. Go to the Biltmore House and take the tour again. I haven't been to the Biltmore in Asheville since middle school, and I've forgotten half the stuff they tell you on the tour. I remember finding it all REALLY interesting, and I remember watching a classmate reach past the velvet ropes and "do not touch" sign to run a hand across one of the velvet seated chairs. But that's about it. It would be fun to have a refresher of the place.

So, there's my list of goals for Summer 2010. I'll let you know how it goes. I might even vlog about all of them. (Not that anyone is really watching my Vlog, except for Mandie and Michelle. Hi roomies!)

[INFOPOST]Things to Think About: Career Development (a.k.a. -- The NEW Disney Plan)

Sorry for the long title, but this is half a personal update post and half an info post. Enjoy!

So, if you saw my post a few days ago then you read about my tiny drama with Disney and my loans and enrollment. Well, it's all fixed now. I went to see Sharon at Career Development yesterday, and if you've been following my blog from the beginning then you know that Sharon is a LIFE SAVER. She works directly with Wayne, our campus recruiter, and the campus reps to help set everything up for Disney. She basically keeps my school's relationship with Disney alive and well. Anyone at AppState who is interested in applying for the program should make an appointment with her. She's very understanding of your concerns and will help you find a way to ease them.

Also, I urge anyone at any school to track down the Career Development representative at your school that works with Disney. Not all schools have them, but most do. It's the smartest decision you'll make. How would you go about finding this person you ask? Well, I'll tell you how I tracked down Sharon.

I went to the presentation schedule on the college program site, and found my school. To the very right of my school's listing was Sharon's name and her school assigned e-mail. I e-mailed her and told her I was going to be applying for the program and asked what she suggested I do before I applied. She responded back and then said that I could call and make an appointment with her if I wanted to discuss these things in person. So, I did. I have met with her a total of three times now, and each time I have learned something new about this process.

Your school's Career Development office can be VERY helpful to you so USE it! You won't regret it.

Back to the main point of this post though, Sharon helped my figure out my enrollment situation. I will now get elective credit for two classes while I'm at Disney which will keep my Grace Period from activating. This means that the exploration series class I planned to take is out the window, and I will now be taking two of Disney Collegiate level courses. I have a list of four that's ranked in favor of the two I want to take the most. I have two back ups in case the ones I want fill up before I check in.

The two classes that I'm hoping to take are:

1) Marketing You
2) Creativity and Innovation

My back ups are Corporate Communication and Organizational Leadership (At least I think that's what their called, lol.)

I'm in the middle of exams right now so I'll probably be posting a lot more as a means of procrastinating and distracting myself (it's what I'm doing right now.) I'll be done with exams on May 4th (May the 4th be with you: International Star Wars Facebook Status Day) and I'll be moving home on the 5th after a long day of packing and cleaning my apartment.

So far I've got no updates to give you on the job front, but Sharon gave me a great idea. If I can't get a steady job I could always babysit. Extremely flexible hours, and money to make credit card payments plus I have TONS of experience to back it up. Also, my mom's a hair stylist with rich clients who might have kids or grandkids that need watching so I could give her a flier to put up at her station. And I think there's a website where people who want to babysit can put up a listing. I can't remember what it's called though. If anyone out there knows please feel free to comment and tell me.

Small Disney Road Block...

So, you know how I mentioned the loan "Grace Period" in my last post?

Well, turns out that "Grace Period" is causing complications.

Until now my plan has been to take one exploration series class while at Disney. I'm not getting credit with my department, and I didn't need it for my insurance so I wasn't worried about classes at all. This plan has been scrapped.

I have loans, and the deal with loans is that you get a 6 month grace period after you leave school before you have to start paying them back. I'm going to be at Disney for 5 months. It's one month short of 6 but I do NOT want to risk anything. So my financial aid counselor suggested I be enrolled for 6 semester hours. My Grace Period wouldn't start and I wouldn't even have to worry about it. So, I e-mailed Sharon at Career Development and asked how I could get 6 semester hours, and she said it was a relatively easy fix.

All I needed to do was e-mail a specific person at the school of Business about being enrolled in the "Dummy" courses within the school of Business. These are courses with the school of Business label that act as place holders for credit and classes down at Disney. Sharon said that this meant I would now need to take TWO of Disney's collegiate courses to coincide with these "Dummy" classes.

I then realized that I had already submitted my "Intent Not to Return" form to the Registrar so I asked Sharon what I should do about that, and she said all I had to do was call them and request to have that form cancelled. So I did that, and was told they would contact everyone on campus and tell them I changed my mind about not being enrolled at school while at Disney. So then I sent the woman at the school of business an e-mail asking to be enrolled in those two Business courses.

Hopefully that will solve my problem. I'm meeting with Sharon tomorrow to discuss classes. I have a few questions for her about which ones I can take and which ones she suggests. After reviewing the list I think I know which ones I want to take, but like I said I have a few questions for Sharon first.

So there's my small Disney road block. It looks as though it's fixed. Cross your fingers that no more complications pop up.

[INFOPOST] Things to Think About: Financial Aid

If you're applying for the program then Financial Aid should be one of the first things you think about. If you're applying in January for the Fall you've got to think about the FAFSA, If you've got private scholarships you'll need to meet with your financial aid counselor, and if you've got loans you'll need to make sure the program doesn't accidentally activate your college loan "grace period."

Some schools make it difficult to meet with your financial aid counselor (like mine.) Our counselors at ASU prefer to do things over the phone rather than in person, but it may not be that way at your school. Also, it depends on what kind of financial aid you have. All of my financial aid is Federal and is a result of my FAFSA so all I had to worry about was how to re-apply for FAFSA.

I called my counselor and she told me to apply like I did every year and just to fill it out like I was coming back in the Fall and then when I hear back about my awards I would need to make it clear WHICH semester I would be accepting them for.

Also, the FAFSA Customer Service lady told me to make sure the "grace period" on my student loans was tripped while I was in Florida. If you have a loan you get a "grace period" before you have to start paying them back, and it's possible that my absence from school while on the program could be seen as me no longer being in school. My "grace period" could start while in Florida and then I would have to start paying back loans when I return home. We definitely don't won't that.

So I've got to call Financial Aid today and make sure nothing happens with my loans. Hopefully, she'll ask if I want to make an appointment. I would really feel better discussing it in person. It just feels more official than discussing it over the phone. If she doesn't, though, I can deal. As long as I KNOW that the government knows I'm not through with school yet.

Ever since I got into the program my mom and I have been looking around for "professional" clothing. I've discovered that the BEST place to find this is Ann Taylor or Ann Taylor Loft. But Old Navy has appropriate and affordable skirts and trousers as well. I looked around Maurice's, but sadly only found one thing that looked both cute and professional.

The outfits you see above are my inspiration and the types of things that I'm looking for. I've found a few things that are similar so far, but I'm going to keep looking over the summer.

But for those of you having trouble finding clothes for Traditions or for your classes, I highly suggest visiting Ann Taylor or the Ann Taylor Loft. You'll definitely find a few things there.

ASU's Disney Send Off Party! (and Formspring stuff)

So tonight at 6PM I attended my school's Disney College Program Send Off Party. It was really fun and informative but wasn't really a party. It was really just all of sitting in a circle asking questions and discussing the reality of the Program.

The campus reps brought us pizza, and we sat together in a room in the Student Union and talked. They gave us a packet of information to help us while we're in Orlando. It has helpful tips and a list of grocery stores and restaurants nearby, and lots of other great information. I got the skinny on going seasonal (which I will hopefully end up doing), and clarified a few things like Main Gate Passes.

I found out that there are 10 of us from AppState headed to Orlando. We have no students going to California. Originally there were 15 of us going to Orlando, but 1 changed her mind and FOUR never even responded to their offers. Only eight of us were at the party because the last two were just unavailable for the night.

It was really chill and laid back. I had a ton of fun getting to know some of the cool people that will be down there when I will be. I have to say that my AppState D-fam seems pretty awesome. A lot of the Campus Reps are graduating this year, so this helps my chances for when I apply to be a campus rep at the end of my Program. They were all really amazing and helpful. If you've got campus reps at your school, don't be afraid of them. They really just want you to be comfortable with your Disney adventure. They're willing to help anyway they can.

So that's all I have about the Send Off party. Now to explain why there was no "Formspring Wednesday" this week. Formspring is being difficult. I answered two questions on Wednesday but Formspring is only showing that I answered one. The second question I answered has just dissappeared.

So instead of a post please see Vlog #13 for this week's Formspring Wednesday questions.

oh man, this is hard. I like them all really, but if I was going to MARRY one of them it would be Prince Phillip. He's a Prince, but he seems very modest and chill. He's confident and pretty funny I'd say. If you haven't watched "Sleeping Beauty" in a while, go watch it. Phillip is actually really funny (espescially when talking to his father, haha.) Yes, I would marry Phillip. Or Prince Edward from Enchanted just because he looks and sings like James Marsden. :)

Top 5 Things I'm Most Looking Forward To in Disney!

A new Top 5! YAY! I bet you guys thought it was never going to happen. Well, here it is.

The Top 5 Things I'm Most Looking Forward To in Disney:

5. Dole Whips

I've never had one. Not once on any trip to Disney have I gotten a Dole Whip. As a matter of fact, I had never heard of them before I started the DCP application process. Everyone keeps talking about them (and by everyone I mean John Henselmeier, Ryan O, Abby, and ALL of the Facebook group). I find myself craving one even though I am one of the unfortunates who has never tasted the whipped pineapply goodness. One of the first things I'm going to do on August 6th (the first day of my mini-Disney vacay) is try a Dole Whip. With all the hype it's received it BETTER be AMAZING.

4. The Restaurants

Again, other than the Food Courts I have never eaten at Disney. I have eaten at places like The Electric Umbrella, and the Paris bakery (who's name escapes me) but I've never actually eaten at a service restaurant. I'm very excited about getting to do so. The first chance I get I'm eating at one of those amazing restaurants. They always look like so much fun.

3. The Characters

I love the park characters. Just the fact that they are there makes my day brighter. I love watching them interact with the kids and families that come to the parks and I love interacting with them myself. I love the environment the characters help create, and I can not wait to work in a place where I can see them (or at least get glimpses of them) everyday. I won't be able to attend my nephew and my sister-in-law's birthday get togethers in November and I'm already planning an awesome gift for the both of them that involves Disney's awesome cast of characters.

2.The Monorail

I have only ridden the monorail once ever. I loved it. I wish I had gotten to ride the monorail more during my last Disney trip, but our resort had bus transportation. We rode the monorail to go resort hoping, and it was very fun. We also rode one of the Disney Boats to go visit the Wilderness Lodge. But I enjoyed the monorail more than the boat ride or the bus ride. The monorail is just so different! I can not wait to ride it as often as I can. Once again that's going to be one of the first things I do when I get to Disney in August.

1. Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party

I have always wanted to be a part of Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween. The first time I heard about it I wanted to go. I'm very excited about being at Disney while this is happening. I don't care if I'm working it or just attending...it's what has me the MOST excited. When the time finally comes during the program you can bet I will be bouncing off the walls with excitement. I know it's intended for young children, but it's Disney! It's Disney all dressed up for Halloween! How could I NOT get excited about that?

Job Hunt and Final Exam Countdown

Finally, I have time to do a personal update post. I feel like it's been a while.

New TOP 5 things to do list:

-Call Financial Aid and ask questions about leaving and coming back. (I've already done this once, but I want to ask everything again just in case. If anyone out there has any suggestions for things I should ask, then please comment and let me know!)
-Find a Job (I've already applied for 10 jobs. If I don't hear from any of them by next Wednesday I'll applying for more.)
-Create a Spec Ad for Angie at Skirt Magazine (This is for my internship supervisor. She wants to see what I can do, but I'm having a hard time finding time to sit down and make an ad for her.)
-Stop spending so much money. (I need to cut out everything unnecessary. Just need to spend money on food and things for school. Nothing else.)
-Finalize who's going to be in the apartment in Florida. (The apartment is essentially full, we're just waiting to hear back from some people.)

I've left out things related to school assignments (of which there are many) because I just wanted to focus on things that will affect my summer and the DCP. I've got a crazy amount of things to do for school right now. I've got 3 group projects to do, 3 huge single projects coming up, a ton of quizes and exams, and then after all of that...Finals.

Dum, dum, DUM!

But all in all I'm just trying to get through the semester because once the semester over I'll only have to wait three months before going to Disney. 12 weeks! YAY! Right now there are 16 weeks until I check in at Vista Way! Woo!

No, I don't. I think as long as you express a love and passion for the parks, the company, and the guests it really doesn't matter if you've never actually been to Disney World. Above everything else they look for some one who will be able to handle guest relations.

No, I didn't. I have in mind places that I would love to work in, but I haven't put in a request. I figure I will work where ever the good Lord wants me to work. They can place me where ever they'd like. I have yet to see a location that I would HATE to work at.

When did you first visit WDW? Do you have any vivid memories from then?
My first trip to Disney was when I was 16. I only got to to go to two Disney parks. Epcot and MGM (or Studios as it's called now). My most vivid memory is walking into Epcot and seeing Spaceship Earth. I was in complete awe. My other most vivid memory is riding Tower of Terror at the Studios. My aunt and I were terrified. We held onto eachother as we dropped and the picture ended up being of the two of us turned toward eachother, screaming bloody murder. It was hilarious.

Has anyone ever told you that you look like Kirsten Dunst?
No, actually. I've been told I look like Reese Witherspoon and Ginger Rogers, but not Kirsten Dunst! Thanks so much! I'm flattered! She's very pretty!

Well, this past weekend was a weekend full of vlogs. I actually got to see my camp girls this weekend. Good times. I get to see them again on April 10th, possibly April 9th and I'm sure they'll be more vlogs about Camp after that weekend too.

This weekend was also full of planning. I had stated earlier on here that I was going to get to stay on Disney property, but that has changed. Mom and I missed the special offer that put the Value Resorts with in our budget. So instead we booked a King Suite at an Embassy Suites 4 miles away from Disney. It looks really nice, and I'm sure I'll enjoy it. But sadly no vlogs from the All Star Music Resort will be posted on my YouTube account.

We're checking in at the Embassy Suites on August 5th which is a full four days before I have to check in. My parents and I are going to take a little mini-Disney vacay. ("You mean like on vacay?" "Road Trip!". If you get this reference your life must be full of win.) We're hopefully meeting up with Michelle and her mom on Sunday, and then Michelle and I are going to have some roomie bonding time. (YAY!) Then on Monday We're going to pick up Michelle, her mom, and her luggage and all head over to Vista Way together! (YAY!)

That's the plan. Hopefully this will still be the plan in August because I like this plan. If it changes, I will of course let you guys know.

I still have to call the Department of Comm office and figure out how to schedule a Senior Audit. I'm also going to call Financial Aid this week to ask what happens with the FAFSA if I don't come back next semester. I'm also going to apply for more summer jobs this week sometime.
